Atlantis The Royal to Sponsor G2 UAE Derby Mar 24, 2024

Ultra-luxury resort Atlantis The Royal Dubai is to sponsor the $1million G2 UAE Derby, one of the most prestigious races on the Dubai World Cup card on Saturday, March 30th.

Established in 2000, the 1900metre dirt contest has a top class roll of honour, having been won by such stars as Discreet Cat, Asiatic Boy, Thunder Snow and Mendelssohn. Derma Sotogake, last year’s winner, went on to finish second in the G1 Breeders’ Cup Classic and runs in this year’s Dubai World Cup.

The event established in 1996, by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, underscores Dubai's position as a hub for global sporting events. As one of the most notable races on the international calendar, the Dubai World Cup highlights the city's commitment to excellence and innovation. Atlantis The Royal’s support reflects Dubai's status as a destination of choice for world-class entertainment, further solidifying its reputation on the global stage.

Situated on two kilometres of private beach on the iconic Palm Jumeirah, Atlantis The Royal Dubai opened in 2023. Later that year it was named number 44 on the World’s 50 Best Hotels list and also made the Conde Naste Hot List for the same year. 44 of its stunning rooms, suites and signature penthouses boast private infinity pools and the resort offers an experience like no other.

Timothy Kelly, President, Atlantis Global, said, “We are extremely proud to be associated with the 2024 edition of the Dubai World Cup, and to sponsor one of the most iconic races for the second year. The UAE Derby transcends its stature as a mere race, it's a gateway to greatness, an attribute we sincerely value at Atlantis The Royal. As one of the most exciting evenings on the Dubai World Cup card, we look forward to cheering on the promising young horses and emerging talents who will be taking part.”

Major General Dr Mohammed Essa Al Adhab, Executive Director of Dubai Racing Club, said: “We are delighted to have Atlantis The Royal Dubai join us to sponsor as important a race as the UAE Derby. Since opening in 2023, Atlantis The Royal Dubai the iconic hotel has been a must-stay destination for some of Dubai’s most discerning visitors.

“We look forward to working with them and to an exciting evening of racing. The UAE Derby is an important race, providing qualification points to the Kentucky Derby. We hope very much that it will give us another international star, as it did 12 months ago with Derma Sotogake.”

The UAE Derby [Sponsored by Atlantis The Royal] is scheduled as race five of nine with a post time of 5:50pm UAE.
