The exploits of Baaeed in Europe and Malathaat in North America over the last two years will take a lot to emulate but Shadwell have been pretty active buying young stock in recent times, including seven foals at Tattersalls last week, headed by a Ghaiyyath filly for 375,000gns.
PLENTY TO SMILE ABOUT
Hailing from a strong Aga Khan family, Shadwell’s purchase is a half-sister to five winners, most notably Group Three scorers Tanaza and Taniyar. Their dam, Tanoura, a Listed winner by Dalakhani, is a half-sister to Group Two victors Takali and Takarian, out of Takarouna, a Group Two heroine and, as a daughter of Green Dancer, a full-sister to another Group Two scorer in Torjoun.
Just 5,000gns ‘cheaper’, at 370,000gns, Shadwell also acquired a Frankel colt, a half-brother to 2019 Champion German Juvenile Wonderful Moon, a Group Two winner.
